Axie Infinity Season 2 Brings New Earning Opportunities with ‘Eras’

Axie Infinity Season 2 introduces “Eras,” which determine your ability to breed pets and participate in battles.

According to VicTree, some classes of creatures have seen a price decrease while others have become more expensive. For example, beasts, Bugs, Mechs, and Plants all dropped in price, with Plants losing almost 50% of their value. On the other hand, Birds, Dawns, Dusks, and Reptiles have become more expensive. For example, Dusks’ price has jumped from $8 to $13, a 65% increase from Season 1.

As Season 2 gains traction, the AXS token price has also increased by 38%. As a result, after a rough year in 2022, Axie Infinity is making a comeback as one of the best performers in the mid-caps segment in 2023. The AXS token price hit a five-month high on January 23, 2023.

Aavegotchi Takes Launches the Forge Upgrade

Aavegotchi, an open-source, community-owned NFT gaming protocol, has introduced an exciting new upgrade to enhance the game’s wearables market. Called “The Forge,” the upgrade offers greater diversity and utility to the wearables market by allowing users to tokenize the different economic values of wearables.

In addition, this feature enables the AavegotchiDAO to control inflation and introduce deflationary mechanics while creating new content.

Wearables are a foundational asset of the Aavegotchi protocol that gives each NFT ghost an outfit and a better chance at performing better in-game. The Forge provides an innovative way for players to create wearables by smelting unwanted wearables and recombining them with new materials. This feature adds further composability to protocol assets, which can improve engagement and gameplay in the Gotchiverse.

AavegotchiDAO members voted to launch The Forge, indicating a positive reception to the proposal. The Aavegotchi ecosystem aims to increase engagement with the upgrade, providing players with a better understanding of the path towards “levelling up” and the exciting opportunities available in the Gotchiverse.

Square Enix Launches Symbiogenesis NFT Art Project in Partnership with Polygon

Square Enix is taking its love for games to the next level through its partnership with Polygon network for a new NFT project. The project is Symbiogenesis and will offer gamers a unique experience centered on digital art collectibles tied to a virtual adventure storyline. The art will evolve with each player’s strategic move in the game.

The project will launch in spring 2023 and is expected to offer a limited chance for three players who meet specific criteria to participate in the final “World Mission.” Square Enix hopes to bring a new level of creativity to blockchain gaming with this project, and it’s just one of the multiple blockchain games based on original intellectual property under development as part of the company’s strategy for 2023.

SoftBank to Join Oasys as a Network Validator

SoftBank, the Japanese tech giant, is set to become a network validator for Oasys, the gaming blockchain, according to a press release shared with CoinDesk. In addition, the two companies will explore potential collaboration beyond SoftBank’s role as a validator, including blockchain-based services for the gaming industry.

Oasys has already launched its mainnet blockchain protocol and has over a dozen games on its blockchain. It also recently announced its plans to list on the Japanese crypto exchange bitbank. SoftBank will join 24 other companies as network validators, including Bandai Namco Research, SEGA, Square Enix, and Netmarble. The next batch of validators will bring the total to 25.
